MELISSA IVEY LANDS LEADING ROLE
Madrid - January 2007 -- Melissa Ivey has been cast as the female lead in a major TV cartoon series to be aired in Europe and the United States.
Auditions were held in Madrid, Spain, and many famous singers auditioned over a 3 day period. Melissa was selected after test audiences picked
her as a top favorite.
The cartoon will feature new pop songs. The cartoon will have two versions, one in Spanish and one in English. Production begins in Spring 2007.
While in Spain, Melissa got to visit the Prada Museum, the Royal Palace, shop at Corte Ingles (a huge super-sized Macy's type department store),
and taste a lot of local food. Her favorite: Shrimp with Garlic. It was a short trip where she got to fly first class and stay in a top rated hotel.
Melissa's focus right now is on learning Spanish and learning songs for the cartoon series. She will be doing a limited number of shows in February
and March.

"Lovers and Stars owns me. I can't stop playing it. Although I've always dug Ivey, this delicious pop ditty hits a sweet spot with me like no recording since The Fray's early demos. It's a quantum leap beyond anything she's produced before." -Dave Herrera, Westword

Melissa has a wide-open mind and a needle-sharp focus, which makes her as much of a pleasure to work with as she is to be around. I expect big things from her, and can't wait to hear what she comes up with next.
Berton Averre, The Knack

Ivey is undoubtedly a talent, with a powerful, soulful voice that belies her physical stature. Her stage presence shows masterful confidence, and her songwriting and musicianship would send any pre-packaged pop star back to the stylist.

Her songs seduce and beguile, entice and enchant a listener with distant yet comforting familiarity of small town Americana.

Her sound and lyrics possess the soul and urgency of Jewel and Carole King, lyrical content echoing Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, her music is so hypnotic and rescuing it is more than deserving of an atmosphere that compliments it.

I too am smitten with Melissa. She is a little powerhouse.

Melissa Iveys live shows have always been something to behold: visually a petite young lady with an acoustic guitar, her vocal power and lack of timidity make her a captivating performer.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT MELISSA IVEY

A five-foot, dark-haired spark plug of a singer/guitarist, Ivey ... packs a lot of panache into a little frame. ... there's a fieriness to her presentation ... saucy enough to smash the contrivances of the girl-with-a-guitar genre. -Laura Bond, Westword

"... a kick ass vibe. ... I am always happy to assist when I see talent such as Melissa." -Jerome Day, drummer with Uncle Kracker

"... despite a Lilliputian frame just under five feet, Melissa's stage presence has become nothing if not commanding. Of course, that's owed in no small part to her voice - a killer set of pipes that she sounds more at home in than ever, alongside pretty acoustic and driving, distorted electric rock alike. Best of all, it all sounds natural - not a forced or show-offy amalgam of styles and influences, but a coherent whole." -John Zwick, University of Colorado-Denver Advocate

"Her trademark is a folk/punk hybrid propelled  by a huge voice." -Swallow Hill

"Melissa Ivey is a petite powerhouse of musical talent. ... Ivey's album is a snapshot of her musical abilities, a powerful combination of blues inspired ballads, catchy rock rhythms and even some fast paced Rockabilly sounds." -Meg Burd, The Scene

"The passion and  guitar styles of Ani DiFranco mixed with the good vibes of Janis Joplin with a bit of a punk rock attitude." -HigherListening.com

"Melissa has undergone a revolution from punk and is redefining herself as a rocking singer-songwriter chick whose style has burst open to expose a few new musical flavors." -Justin Case Perkins, North Denver News
